Tele2 Once Again Among the Top as the Financial Times Names Europe's Climate Leaders
For the fourth time, Financial Times, in collaboration with Statista, compiles the list "Europe’s 500 Climate Leaders". Tele2 is ranked number two with a total score of 87.9 – an increase from last year's score of 86.9, which then placed Tele2 at the top of the list. The report is compiled by calculating companies' performance in reducing their emission intensity in scope 1, their own operations, and scope 2, the energy they purchase, for the period 2017-22. Points are also awarded for transparency about scope 3 emissions in the supply chain, plus other indicators of commitments to reduce emissions.
"We are very pleased and honored to once again be top ranked among Europe's climate leaders for the second year in a row. Improving our score from last year's leading score of 86.9 to 87.9 this year is a significant step that we at Tele2 are incredibly proud of. For Tele2, climate action is a top priority, and we have set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions in our operations and value chain by 2035. Our vision is to be a leader in sustainability in our industry, and these types of awards show that we are on the right track," says Erik Wottrich, Head of Sustainability, Tele2.
Last year, Tele2 ranked first on the list. This year's list is topped by National Air Traffic Services, the British air traffic control provider, with a score of 88.8 points. Tele2 closely follows, setting a high standard as a leader in the telecommunications sector.
