Tele2 and iBasis announce IPX Peering Agreement
The agreement allows both Tele2 and iBasis to use each other’s IPX interconnect for international voice, which give their customers a guaranteed high-quality voice and high-speed data access comparable to what they receive while in their home network. The companies are also investigating other services, such as VoLTE. This new agreement leverages the companies’ already existing GRX peering agreement.
Willem Offerhaus, CEO at iBasis comments: “Tele2 is one of the most growth-oriented and innovative operators in Europe, with a very strong commitment to 4G/LTE as the engine of that growth. This multiservice IPX interconnection takes our relationship to an even more exciting level as we enable a new generation of services like LTE Roaming and VoLTE.”
Joachim Horn, EVP and Group CTIO at Tele2 comments: “iBasis have a great global infrastructure and reach, which make them a great partner to take the next step with into LTE Roaming. Together we will make it easier for our customer to travel, since they do not need to worry about bad quality or poor internet service. I look forward to further see what we can accomplish together”
