TELE2'S 3G NETWORK WILL BE COMPLETED THIS AUTUMN
Stockholm - Tele2 AB (publ) today announced that it expects to meet the license requirements for the 3G network build out in Sweden this autumn. The 3G network will by then cover more than 8,860,000 inhabitants, which is in line with the requirements set out by the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS).
All mobile operators building out 3G networks in Sweden are within the next few days to report to PTS the time by which they expect to fulfill the 3G license requirements. Svenska UMTS-nät AB, jointly owned by Tele2 and TeliaSonera, is conducting the 3G network build out for the two companies, and will report that it plans to fulfill the requirements this autumn.
The 3G build out is thereby entering a new phase where the network quality will be strengthened and improved to meet a steady increase in customer demand.
- We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers a complete 3G network as a complement to our existing GSM network, says Niclas Palmstierna, CEO of Tele2 Sweden. Last winter, Tele2 was awarded "Best 3G network" in the Swedish magazine Mobil's yearly coverage test, and we now further improve the coverage for our customers.
