TELE2 AB BENEFITS FROM INTERCONNECTION RATE CUTS IN FRANCE
New York and Stockholm - December 4, 2001 - Tele2 AB, ("Tele2", "the Group") (Nasdaq Stock Market: TLTOA and TLTOB and Stockholmsbörsen: TEL2A and TEL2B), the leading alternative pan-European telecommunications company, welcomes the announcement that ART, the French telecommunications regulator, will impose interconnection cuts of between 5%-10% from 1 January 2002.
Tele2 believes that it will see a decrease of 5-10% in combined interconnect tariffs relevant for Tele2 in France.
Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, CEO of Tele2 AB said: "We are pleased that ART continues to open up the French market to competition and it is encouraging that Regulators across Europe continue to cut interconnection rates in order to maintain pressure on the PTTs. These cuts in France will bring a reduction in costs for Tele2 so helping to ensure continued cheap telephony for customers."
