Ever since Jan Stenbeck founded Tele2 in Sweden 1993, we have continued to challenge prevailing norms and dusty monopolies. ​Today, our award-winning networks enable unlimited possibilities within mobile and fixed connectivity, telephony, data network services, TV, streaming and global IoT solutions for millions of customers.

Jan Stenbeck challenges the telecom monopoly and launches mobile telephony.

1993

Tele2 launches fixed telephony in Sweden. The call cost is halved within 3 years.

1996

Tele2 is introduced on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

2000

Tele2 builds the world's first 3G network and invites Telia to collaborate.

2001

NetCom proposes at the extra general meeting to change its name from NetCom AB to Tele2 AB.

2010

4G is built with Telenor and we have the best coverage in Sweden.

2018

Tele2 acquires Com Hem.

2019

Designated Sweden's greenest and most energy-efficient mobile network operator.

2020

Tele2 first climate neutral telco in the Nordics & the Baltics.

2021

First public 5G network in Sweden.

2022

First company in Nordics and Baltics with approved Net Zero science based target.

2023

Appointed #1 Climate Leader in Europe by The Financial Times.

Tele2 is ranked number one among 500 European companies in Europe’s Climate Leaders 2023 list compiled by the Financial Times in partnership with Statista.
